On 2nd August, we were delighted to host our annual Summer Fayre, which saw over 300 people visit The Cloisters. It was a fantastic day filled with sunshine, community spirit, and a vibrant atmosphere. We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the stall holders who brought such variety and energy to the event—from handcrafted goods to delicious food and family-friendly activities.
A special thank you also goes to the local businesses and supporting companies whose contributions helped make the day a resounding success. Your involvement truly made a difference, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
Environment Matters

During the Summer Fayre The Cloisters were delighted to welcome Councillor Daniel Allen, Leader of the Council and Councillor Amy Allen Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Cabinet Panel on The Environment.
Daniel and Amy were given a whistle stop tour of The Cloisters to show them the work that has been done and planned. One of the projects Amy was particularly interested in was the remodelled front car park. Last year we laid astroturf at the front to soften the façade. We continued that initial work by replacing the old planter boxes and proceeded to install a micro-irrigation system. Initially this will reduce the watering required and will eventually be sourced 100% from reclaimed water from rain fall and the spring under The Cloisters.

Patchwork for the Pirates

We would like to thank the ladies of our afternoon patchwork group. They had spent many weeks creating some fantastic items to sell at our Pirate Themed Summer Fayre. The ladies decided to do this to raise money in the memory of Val Quieros. Val had been a great supporter of the patchwork group as well as many of the Letchworth Arts and Leisure Group clubs. She served on the LALG committee and supported The Cloisters helping promote our events and even did some of our sowing. She made the Roman blinds in the New Upper room from some old curtain material we had.
