Restart A Heart Day

On Thursday 16th October a team of Advanced Life Support instructors from the Lister Hospital ran simultaneous events in aid of Restart A Heart Day, the global day of raising awareness around cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

The team were based on the main corridor at Lister Hospital and at the Cloisters, covering CPR of adults, children and babies, the use of an AED, making an emergency call to the ambulance service, putting someone in the recovery position and how to manage someone who is choking.

The event at the Cloisters saw local residents and building users attend for hands on practice, take part in a quiz, the opportunity to ask questions and go away with a booklet from the Resuscitation Council UK covering everything they had learned. Over the two sites the team engaged with around a hundred members of the public.

A similar event is being planned at the Cloisters next year.
